Our review
It all started on a whim. We had just come out of Throne room, also from Locked In, but we still hadn't gotten our escape-room fix. Since that room hadn't quite satisfied our craving, we asked if they had anything free right then. That's how we ended up in Dracula's Secret, hoping for a mysterious, creepy escape room, maybe with music that sends a shiver down your spine. Reality check, though: if you're looking for pure suspense in the style of Coven, look elsewhere. Dracula's Secret is more of a classic adventure, minimally automated, an honest old-school room that does the job if you want an experience without too many pretensions.

Story & Setting
Honestly, the story feels like filler, the kind of 'let's put something there so the room has a classic theme'. The Game Master really tried and we appreciated that, but once we crossed the threshold, the narrative thread got completely lost along the way. You can't truly feel immersed when the decor is fairly sparse and simplistic in places. Instead of a gothic castle, the vibe is more like an old countryside house where grandma left all the lights on at full blast. We're not absurd enough to think every company has to blow huge budgets on immersion, but when you walk in thinking Dracula and leave feeling like you've been somewhere in the countryside, something feels off.
Puzzles & Gameplay
The puzzles feel fairly old-school and quite disconnected from the story. They're done in a pretty generic way, and no matter what theme the room had, they would have been solved the same. We're not saying they're bad, but they don't have that unique spark that makes them memorable. We got a 50-50 mix of classic padlocks and some automation. The good part is that the locks are clearly differentiated, so you don't waste time trying random codes wherever you can. Still, it lacks the complexity of newer rooms, and the fact that some elements are written directly with a marker around the room really pulls you out of the atmosphere.
Atmosphere & Immersion
On atmosphere, the music is there, but the lighting is far too strong for a vampire's lair. We would have wanted something more ambient, darker, a bat flutter, some flickering candles. The only truly crypt-like detail was the low temperature in the room. Otherwise, it's a decent atmosphere that would benefit enormously from a modernization.
What We Loved
  • ✓Attentive Game Master ready to help
  • ✓Honest price that reflects the room's quality
Areas for Improvement
  • !Not a horror room as advertised
  • !Older room that would benefit from modernization
Final Verdict
Dracula's secret isn't a room that will blow you away with story, decor, or spectacular mechanisms, but it also doesn't try to be something it isn't. It does the job, has a few nice ideas, and if you come in with the right expectations, you can still have a fun hour.
